Day 72: November 4

…BEEP BEEP BEEP *SNOOZE*…… oh snooze button how I love to hate thee. Three pushes of the snooze button later before I jumped out of bed and scrambled to get ready. Quickly walked to the metro and was lucky to get there at the same time as the train. Made my way to Tahriir and onto the bus. Napped all the way to school…

In media we blitzed through the next two subchapters of chapter three. Going through the vocab and the associated news articles at a break neck speed. Afterwards we went onto the BBC Arabic website browsed the main page to see how much we could translate. It was actually really reassuring to see how much we could read from the website…

Max and I made a quick run out to grab food during the break. Its days like this I really wish there was other stuff on campus other than McDonalds and Omda… forced to get a Sausage Egg McMuffin. Oh, well.

MSA and writing class were pretty typical. During writing we went over a letter submitted to a advice column and wrote a response. Also reviewed some connectors. In MSA we went over the article from last night’s homework. Discussing in detail the Valley of the Whales and its impact on Egypt... We also reviewed form 3 and form 6 verbs from earlier in the week.

After class I went to the first floor and started preparing my presentation for our conversation midterm. I found the other four guys huddled in the corner doing the same thing and joined them. One by one we were called in to give our presentations. I was last and had heard mixed reviews from those that went before me. I went in and gave mine feeling fairly confident. It seemed to go well and I understood all the questions that she asked about my story. She also seemed pleased… so maybe a good grade?

After class I went to the library to start working on homework . Finished a packet on form 6 verbs and then got a call from Henry to grab some lunch. He had just gotten out of his Basketball game. They had dominated the Canadian Cairo College (High School). I met up with him and some of his friends from the team and grabbed pizza from the Italian place on campus.

At four, Henry and I excused ourselves and walked back to the ALI (HUSS) building to meet with JJ. We went to the usual room and found JJ waiting for us. Pulled out our Bibles and did an hour and a half long study. Talked allot about our lives today which was an interesting change of pace from the last two weeks.

After study I caught the bus back. Did some reading from my Bible, but also took a short nap. Arrived home after an hour commute. Immediately started translating the assigned article from Media. The article discussed soccer riots in Italy… Italian soccer fans sound absolutely nuts!

Evan and I eventually left to grab food and stopped into El Baghel to grab some sandwhiches. We got them to go and decided to walk back and finish some work. On our way back we got roped into a conversation with one of the local shop owners. A half hour conversation later we were heading back to our apartment. Luckily I have significantly less work tonight… albeit I did end up with a cold Shish Tawook Sandwich.

Got back and did the reading questions. Followed that up with a translation exercise from the writing class. After all of this I found myself with 45 minutes till my ideal bedtime. I was ecstatic to finally be getting some sleep. I did my pushup/sit-up routine. Called Chris Thomas. Went to bed.
